This poem was created for Day 4 of the National Poetry Month Challenge, hosted by
. In this piece, I revisit a fictional world that exists within the mind of sleeping titan. To discover the fate of Darukna, read my poetry collection “Beauty in The Ending.”
I am aware that all I see is merely a dream and not for me. Reality exists within Darukna’s mind. All that we see or seem, he has designed.
Our world is nothing more than a dream. We are but pebbles in a cosmic stream. And yet, I do not despair because I know, If he wakes, he will be forced to let her go.
For you see, Darukna’s moon and his stars are also responsible for all of his scars. She was his galaxy, his entire universe. Now, the product of his eternal curse.
In the waking world, she orbits him no more, In this endless void, he dreams of before. A time when his life was beautiful and bright, Instead of a cosmic existence void of starlight.
Darukna’s heart, by fate riven, Has led to this life that I’ve been given. Flowers grow in the ashes of his past, In his mind, the possibilities are vast.
I know one day, Darukna’s dream will end. The sleeping mind on which I depend, Will open its eyes and all will cease, Despite this, I have made my peace.
My life is as real and tangible as yours, Reality is nothing more than a series of doors. Leading to possibilities and futures unknown, all of us seeking a place to call our own.

The Darukna poem was my first favorite on Substack and NOW NOW YOU HAVE GIVEN ME MORE. MORE SIR. this is so perfect. I added the group of cosmic words to the challenge in hopes you would deliver and you literally picked me up on a spaceship and flew me to the galaxy.
