For Day 19 of the National Poetry Month challenge hosted by
, the task was to either appreciate nature in the moment, or think back to a time when nature inspired you.I decided to pull up a photo from a hike I went on a few months ago and used that.
Please enjoy.
Serenity. In a single moment, all around me. Perfection.
I step out of the moment to capture it. Crystalized and locked in a digital cage. A memento of something I lost, to the river of time.
I keep it close as a reminder, of what peace felt like. The sound of flowing water. The silence of ancient stones.
I watch the forest, and it watches me. Silent and without judgement. It doesn’t know what I’ve seen.
I can take shelter here. Just for a moment. Return to serenity. Unclench my jaw.
I can go back there. Again and again. It will never be the same. Not quite like it was before.
That moment won’t remember me, but I will remember it. As I stare into its glass prison. And marvel at its glimmer.
Thanks for Reading! Here’s Your Musical Pairing
Listen to this after reading, like pairing a glass of wine with dinner.
That’s lovely man. Really captures the stillness.
