January 21st - Eternal Hunt Beta Test Email?
Hey, long time lurker, first time poster here. I just got this email about being a beta tester for this new game called The Eternal Hunt. Looks like a roguelike horror? Seems cool, but I’ve never heard of it.
I tried to look up the team, but it looks like it was a solo dev? Is that right? Crazy what one developer can do these days.
Anyway, anyone else received an invite? I’m thinking about trying it out.

February 1st - First Impressions
Hey, me again. I started playing the beta for that game I mentioned the other day. Curiosity got the best of me. I did a little research, but couldn’t find anything.
I think it’s just an indie game, seems like it’s a really small team.
The game seems cool enough, you’re being hunted by this monster called The Emissary, and it’s hunting you because you broke your oath.
Every time it kills you it brings you back to life so it can hunt you again.
Not sure why, I’m still figuring out the lore. Some of the skills are pretty cool and the difficulty curve is fine, but that damn Emissary kicks my ass every time I run into him. Anyone else tried the beta by chance?
I’ll be honest, it’s kind of low key addicting. I’ve been playing it so much that I feel like I keep seeing the Emissary out of the corner of my eyes in real life.
Pretty neat how the skybox in the game matches real life as well. Or maybe it’s the other way around?
I’m kidding, haha, that would be insane. It’s a pretty damn realistic skybox, though, I’ll give it that.
Anyway, I’m planning on digging more into the devs and the beta’s files, so I’ll report back.

February 3rd - Okay, this is weird…
Hey, so I know these things get like four views, but I did some searching after u/GreenPlumber2022 recommended I look up the writer of the game, and uh, guys?
I found this article from a few years ago. Check it out:
I had no idea the game was canceled. It makes sense, given what happened, but if that’s the case, why did I get a beta invite a month ago? This doesn’t make any sense.
But, at the same time, I can’t stop playing it. The gameplay loop is just so good.
You ever played something so much that it feels like its bleeding into the real world? You know, like the music, or the sound effects, or maybe the skybox?
Yeah, I know, that sounds insane, but I was taking the garbage out the other night and I swear the stars in the sky looked exactly like the nighttime skybox in the game.
I was avoiding digging too deep into the game’s files because I didn’t want to corrupt my save file, but now I gotta know. There has to be answers in here somewhere.
Just what the hell is this game?

February 15th - Something in the Files
Hey, I did some digging, and I know barely anyone is going to see this, but at this point I’m just hoping that I can stop anyone else from playing this fucking beta.
I don’t know who’s distributing it, and frankly I don’t care at this point.
There’s something seriously fucked up about this game. I can barely wrap my head around it. I’m stuck in a loop, it feels like.
I keep trying to leave my house to get help, but whenever I do I see that fucking thing watching me. The Emissary.
I tried to get to my car, but it uh…fuck I can’t believe I’m saying this.
It killed me.
It has this huge fucking scythe and it just gutted me like a goddamn fish, dude. I know that sound batshit insane, but I could feel it!
As soon as it happened, though, I woke up in my room again. I thought it was a nightmare, but every time I try to leave, that fucking grim-reaper Dark Souls motherfucker is still there.
And you want to to know the worst part? I’m still playing the FUCKING game! I’ve convinced myself that if I can somehow finish it, that I’ll break free.

It’s the same thing that one user, u/ForgottenChild101 has been saying in the comments. That whole eyes to the sky thing?
I just ignored them, but it has to be connected to all of this.
And, I found a photo of some old ass VHS tapes.
Look at the titles. Beta testers like me? I see my name on one of the tapes, but I don’t recognize the others.
I fucking knew it! I knew something was up with the skybox, man! It’s gotta be something in the stars, but what? How would I even begin to translate it?
Listen, in the meantime, can you try to send help? My address is [DELETED]. Please, I feel like I’m going insane here.

March 15th - I FIGURED IT OUT!!
I don’t know how this is possible. I haven’t eaten in weeks. I haven’t drank any water. I’ve tried to escape my house and I’ve died so many different ways.
I hate how that fucking thing laughs every time, too. It’s enjoying this, ISN’T IT?!
Fuck, I can barely sleep. The only thing that helps is playing the stupid fucking game. I can’t go outside without the Emissary, so I’ve been studying the skybox in the game instead.
That’s when it hit me. THE FUCKING STARS! I kept seeing the same patterns in the game and in real life, back when I could actually set foot outside.
The constellations are telling me something. Check out this passage from the game’s lore. The Emissary serves the Facless God, and so do some worshippers called the Forgotten Children. Sound like a certain username?
The Emissary Knows the Face of Every Oathbreaker.
It will hunt them to the ends of the realm and beyond.
They shall never know peace or safety,
From dusk until dawn.
This is a punishment for breaking my oath, but there’s a way to break the loop! Here, take a look. I’ve been working on this for the last few days, trying to trace the constellations on paper.
Can you see it? The message? It’s so clear! Haha, I did it! All I have to do is remove my face. Once I do that, the Emissary won’t recognize me, at least, not right away.
Still following? Okay, once that’s done, I just have to make an offering to the Faceless God. You know, a sacrifice? That’s what happened to the writer in that old article!
The other dev on the team killed him, I’m covinced of it. He made his body an offering to the Faceless God and it must have worked! It worked for him, it could work for me!
Someone else figured out how to get out of it, so I will too.
I’m getting out of this, one way or another. Wish me luck.
