My serial has an aftercycle concept like this! Sorta lol but I might do a LitRPG x sci-fi mashup short story for this prompt instead; I’ve had an idea bouncing around for a few years. Can’t promise it won’t turn into a novel one day, though 🤣
Omgosh you will never believe this, but I've had a story simmering in my imagination. It fits. I have just been tinkering with it in my imagination, and planned on researching & watching The 13th floor again.....before I attempted it.
Here is my first attempt at a power up prompt. I hope you enjoy. It’s a level 3. I guess you could kind of call it a genre mashup science fiction/psychological horror.
Here is my story, I think it checks off all three. Pretty fun prompt. A citizen of a population living entirely within a simulation is forced to give up everything in an attempt to defend it. ~1700 words
It should be Level 3, and it should be sci-horror (or sci-fi/horror, if you prefer)
The story turned out to be different from what I originally envisioned. It is short, but when I tried to make it a bit longer, the charm threatened to disappear, so I stopped myself.
I've been writing a story a week in the science fiction space, purely to test my skills. I've just found your page - and, well, challenge accepted! Thanks for the prompts, Bradley.

I think I'm going to try and write a story combining this prompt with the Your Literary Implications writing prompt which came out today.
Sounds awesome! 😁

Oooo litrpg?! I want to write one but I need to read more of them first....
Have you checked out Royal Road? They have a few great LitRPG stories!
Not yet, thank you!

You just gave me a green light!
I love it when that happens! The universe has spoken, haha. Time to write! 😁
Keeping it within word limits is MY CHALLENGE.
Idk how I’m going to keep mine short. 😂 End it with a scene cliffhanger maybe? lol
You can make it a part one type situation for sure! Plenty of people have done that for prior prompts.
I’m flexible on the word count as well! I usually set that limit just so I can read/review them all on the podcast each week. 😁
I'm actually trying with a teaser of a longer story that I want to write. All of a sudden, my muse is pushing me to longer form stories. 🤷♀️
Do it 👏

Also feature it on the next podcast episode during the Power up Prompts segment. 😁
Really I am just excited to hear what you think.

Amazing! Looking forward to checking it out. I’ll also mention it during the podcast episode! 😁

I want to try this week. So I tag you in the submission or post a link here or this is just done on our own?
Welcome, Saif! Yes, you can feel free to tag me in the post, or just dropping a link here works too!
Such a fun challenge. Below is my attempt at a level 3 response.
