Walter doesnโt necessarily leave as a changed man, but heโs been affected and thatโs far more compelling than a simple "faith restored" arc. It makes it more about feeling rather than telling. ๐๐๐๐
Yes, exactly! I wanted this part to feel ambiguous in a number of ways. Itโs intended for the reader to sort of choose between science and faith based on what they believe. The same goes for Walter. He canโt deny what he saw, but he too is conflicted about what actually happened.
Thank you, Rachel! I really enjoyed writing this part because I felt like it was ambiguous enough where you could argue both the scientific and spiritual explanations for what happened.
Holy shit this was amazing. From the way you described the sound of the church to the way his head was scrambled by the forces of evil. Really loved this. A beautiful way to overcome the storm, not only in his mind, but the physical one.
Haha, yeah I used to listen to Skillet a ton back in the day! Iโm so glad you liked this one! I was raised Catholic myself, but I donโt consider myself religious these days. Spiritual, sure, but not religious.
That being said, I really wanted this piece to kind of leave the events open to interpretation, with both scientific and spiritual explanations for what happened. Iโm really glad that came through when you read it!
Thanks as always for the amazing feedback, Mina! ๐
My neighbor was Catholic and I used to go to church with her and it was wild - I could never focus and I always felt judged for not being baptized during communion ๐

Damn Walter start praying!!
Haha, yeah he may very well be a changed man after everything he went through!
Love this so much!

Oh my goodness I completely forgot about skillet! Heck yes - impeccable song choice!
I do really like how the events could be explained by something other than religion, and I love the part where his family comes back to him ๐ฅน
This is a wonderful second part!
