Totally agree with this, feedback makes a world of a difference for motivation and inspiration for writers. And the lack of interaction and commenting have been a big problem in the writer community lately. Let’s keep making an effort to build each other up!
I completely agree! Things have been moving the right direction for sure since I joined Substack. I see a lot of supportive folks on here. Even so, as I often say, we grow better when we grow together, so the more support we can create, the better!
This is exactly why I'm on the board for three different writer focused non-profits. One of them puts on a youth writing contest and I volunteer to go talk to middle and highschool students about storytelling. We're also hosting a local adult writing contest this spring. I get the biggest creative boost when I see other people get excited for their passion projects.
Thanks for writing about the importance of building community, holding space for others, and genuinely engaging with each other's work. 💜 Glad we Internet met.

There's an indescribable energy that comes from writers supporting each other and collaborating; it's a creative boost for sure!

If you can't find the community, make it! 😁 I also participate in two other groups that started from scratch in the last year or two. Plus some groups also do virtual gatherings, like Broadleaf Writers Association. We're so sprawling, most of our meetings are online. There's a member meeting next week where non-members can be guests. Come be my guest!
